Schema Markup & Structured Data

Give Google and AI
a machine-readable map
of your content.

Schema markup is the language that search engines and AI systems understand natively. Every schema type we implement sends structured signals that improve rankings, unlock rich results, boost click-through rates and make your content more citable by ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

Why schema markup matters

Schema is the signal that makes your content machine-readable — for both Google and AI.

Schema markup (structured data) is a standardised vocabulary that tells search engines and AI systems exactly what your content is about. Without schema, Google and AI systems must infer what your content means from unstructured text. With comprehensive schema, you provide explicit, machine-readable signals about your business, content, products, reviews, FAQs and more.

The benefits are significant and measurable. Schema markup qualifies pages for rich results — star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, breadcrumbs, site links and product panels in Google SERPs that dramatically increase click-through rates. It also strengthens the entity signals that AI language models use when deciding whether to cite your brand, making schema one of the most direct levers for improving AI visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

Schema types we implement

15+ schema types across every page category

Organization & LocalBusiness Schema

Defines your brand as an entity — name, URL, logo, contact information, social profiles, founding date, awards and service areas. This is the foundation of entity authority for both Google Knowledge Panel and AI citation. We implement comprehensive Organization schema on your homepage and About page.

FAQPage Schema

Enables FAQ rich results — expandable question-answer dropdowns directly in Google SERPs. FAQPage schema is one of the highest-CTR rich result types and directly feeds People Also Ask boxes, featured snippets and AI-generated answers. We implement FAQPage schema on every relevant service, product and content page.

Article, BlogPosting & NewsArticle Schema

Tells Google your content is an authoritative, date-stamped article — critical for news carousel appearances, article rich results and AI citation preference. We implement Article schema with correct authorship, publication date, modified date and image markup on all content pages.

Product, Offer & AggregateRating Schema

For e-commerce and SaaS: product schema enables price, availability and review star ratings directly in Google SERPs — dramatically increasing CTR for product and pricing pages. We implement comprehensive Product schema including Offer, AggregateRating and Review types.

HowTo Schema

Enables step-by-step rich results with numbered steps visible directly in the SERP. HowTo schema dramatically increases CTR for instructional content and is the primary schema type for capturing voice search answers to "how to" queries.

BreadcrumbList & SiteLinks Schema

BreadcrumbList schema displays your site navigation path in SERPs, improving both click-through and user experience. Combined with correct internal linking, it also influences the display of sitelinks — the additional links shown below major brand queries in Google.

Our process

How we implement schema markup across your site

01

Schema audit

Full audit of your current schema implementation — identifying missing types, errors flagged in Google Search Console, validation failures and opportunities to qualify for additional rich result types.

02

Schema strategy & prioritisation

We map every schema type to every page category and prioritise implementation by expected CTR and ranking impact — starting with the types that will deliver the fastest measurable benefit.

03

Implementation & validation

We implement schema in JSON-LD format (Google's preferred method), validate against schema.org and Google's Rich Results Test, and monitor for errors in Search Console after deployment.

04

Rich result monitoring

Monthly monitoring of your rich result appearances across all implemented schema types, with reporting on click-through improvements and new opportunities as Google updates its supported schema types.

Common questions

Schema Markup FAQs

Schema markup (also called structured data) is code added to your website that tells search engines what your content means, not just what it says. It uses a standardised vocabulary from schema.org to describe your business, content, products, reviews and other entities in a machine-readable format that Google, Bing and AI systems can process directly.
Schema markup is not a direct ranking factor in the traditional sense, but it indirectly improves rankings significantly. Rich results from schema markup increase click-through rates, which is a positive user signal. Schema also improves Google's understanding of your content and entity authority, which influences rankings for related queries. Most importantly for AI visibility, schema is one of the strongest citation signals for AI language models.
JSON-LD is a separate JavaScript block embedded in the page <head> or <body>. Microdata is inline HTML attributes. Google strongly recommends JSON-LD as it is easier to implement, update and validate without affecting the visible HTML structure of the page. All our implementations use JSON-LD.
